| Sophy Craze, program director and workshop leader, has practiced yoga and meditation for over thirty years. After becoming seriously ill in 1996 she spent two years, much of it in silent retreat, in intensive practice of Mindfulness, also known as Vipassana or Insight meditation. In 2001 she trained in the Stress Reduction Program at the world-renowned Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and began teaching that same year. Sophy teaches from her direct experience of the healing power of meditation--for the heart and mind, body and spirit. She is working on her fourth book, Healing From the Inside Out .
All forms of contemplation, creativity, and caring can be calming and restorative. Mindfulness meditation—which is the basis of the stress reduction and the meditation programs—is the simplest and most direct meditation approach I have encountered in over thirty years of experience with many different meditation practices and traditions. And it can be integrated into all of our lives, from the smallest details to the largest philosophies.
